24 WORKERS STRIKE, 600 SENT HOME
FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
SEPT. 12
An unofficial strike by 24 paint shop workers at Morris Motors, Cowley, Oxford, led to between 600 and 700 men being sent home today. The whole of the No. 1 paint line had to be closed down and work also stopped on the Wolseley 6/99 and 15/60, Riley 4/68, and M.G. Magnette assembly lines. It is understood that the men stopped work because of interruptions in the flew of bodies on the paint line.
At the Pressed Steel Company, Cowley, 100 men on British Motor Corporation car body production were sent home as a result of the strike.
