How do you rate the English version Mazda MX-5 Mk1?

I'm thinking of buying a Mazda MX-5 Mk1. I would like to get the English version but how do you rate this against the import? Do you know the insurance groups for both cars?

They are now going up so you could pay £5000 to get a good one. The problem is paying £5000 and getting a bad one. it might now qualify for agreed value classic car insurance with some specialist insurers. See the insurance and warranty section in the useful websites directory under Ask Honest John on the home page.
