My licence has apparently been revoked and I'm expecting a summons - help!

I was stopped on 30 August 2010 and the police officer said my licence was revoked in 2004. I have been stopped numerous times before and have always been legal. They impounded my car, even though my father had turned up with his licence and insurance to prove he could drive it. It cost me a fortune to get it back and when I attended the police station they changed the date, saying my licence was revoked in February 2006.

Now I'm playing the waiting game. I have been reported for having no licence, even though I never received any letters. It costs £65 to get my licence reinstated and I have been told I cannot drive until my licence returns. Is this true? What can I expect in court?

The licence should have been valid in any event. It is possible that your photo had expired but that should not affect your right to drive if it was only the matter of the photograph. You need to update your licence with an new photograph immediately. Let me know if/when the summons comes, as the chances are I can deal with this for you.
