I've got handbrake problems on my 51-reg Vauxhall Corsa.

I've got a 51-reg Vauxhall Corsa SXI. If it's parked on a hill the handbrake goes up eight clicks before it will even begin to hold the car. I know they're meant to self-adjust and only go up three clicks. Is there anything you can suggest to look at? I also think it's causing a problem on the front driver's side because it creates a burning hot smell when you brake from high speed.

Probably needs new parking brake cables. One side is binding, the other isn't. Take it to a different garage.
