Is my BMW safe to drive with the DTC switched off?
A fortnight ago, when driving my BMW up the M5, on two occasions the DTC warning light flashed and I had a momentary power loss. Both incidents were over in seconds. It didn't happen again until last night when the DTC light started flashing and I felt the power go. After a while I pressed the DTC control button, the warning stopped flashing and came on permanently, and power returned. Conditions were fine and the road was dry. I took the car out after we got back and the DTC behaved itself, with no flashing. Is it safe to drive with the DTC switched off and the warning triangle light permanently on?

It depends how skilled a driver you are. A lot of drivers would switch it off as a matter of course. But if you were to hit an uneven wet patch with too much power on, the DTC would not step in to save the situation and you might find yourself off the road.
