Honda Jazz air conditioning not working

The air con has stopped working on my 2009 Honda Jazz. I've taken a look under the bonnet and there is a grinding noise coming from the general vicinity of the pump. My car also has rusty brake discs. Is this something I should be worried about?

Unrelated issues. I'd guess that the a/c pump electromagnetic clutch has failed. An a/c specialist should be able to replace it for about £150 (I've had them done for £50 in Thailand). Rusty discs is normal. They rust all the time. Braking hard removes the surface rust until they get so bad that grooves start to appear. But the discs on our 2010 Jazz now at 60k miles are still in good condition.
