Excessive road noise on BMW X1 - how can I fix it?

I have just purchased a new BMW X1 and it is a fine car. However it has significant tyre noise which is worse on some road surfaces. It is fitted with non-runflat Bridgestone Turanza tyres. The BMW dealer advises me that the roar is caused by the newness of the tyres and will recede in a couple of weeks. Is this correct or would you recommend swapping tyres?

Have yet to drive the new X1 so can't comment soecifically. I can tell you that, expecting snow, I replaced the decent enough 205/55 R17 non runflat Michelin Primacy 3 s on my Honda HR-V with non runflat Michelin Cross Climates and was amazed at how much they improved the car: Softer, much nicer riding, quieter, with no penalty in handling or fuel economy.
