Leaving a car for 1 month - is there anything I need to do?

My 2013 petrol engined KIA Carens will be left on our drive from 6 January to 4 February, whilst we are on a cruise. Are there any procedures I should be carry out on the car before we leave it. Is it advisable to put on a half car cover to protect the top from dirt, cold weather and bird droppings?

Should be okay if you take it for a 15-20 mile run immediately before leaving it. Make sure you switch off the interior light completely at the light, switch off the radio at the radio, switch off the heater fan. Yes, good idea to use a top cover. Extremely bad idea to get someone to start it occasionally,. That will lead to massive condensation inside the engine and exhaust and will not put back into the battery what it takes out.
