Should I apply for a recall notification because of our BMW X3's rusty brake hubs?

You were kind enough to respond in December last year regarding our 2012 X3's rear rusty brake hubs. I was looking at an X reg BMW 5 series the other day and noticed the rear hubs were completely rust free. I am considering applying to DVLA (VOSA?) for a recall notification. Would you mind reminding me where to start this process? My hubs are quite a bit rustier now than last year. The car was supplied to us new in May 2012.

This would be a pointless exercise because it will never happen. VOSA is only concerned with safety related recalls and does not issue them via the DVLA until after discussion with the manufacturer (a bit like plea bargaining in a court case). Your rusty iron ore hubs are entirely normal. Usually these are left unpainted because all that ever occurs to them is surface rust. They get too hot for rust to penetrate. They could be painted with Sperex VHT (very high temperature) paint and this is what some BMW dealers have done when customers complained.
