Should we order our new Vauxhall Mokka with 18-inch wheels?

We have ordered a Vauxhall Mokka SE and are a bit surprised at the four month waiting list. You regularly comment on the size of tyres and comfort of ride. The SE comes with 18-inch wheels. Should we ask for a smaller size to improve the ride quality?

The two tyre sizes are: 205/70 R16 on 16-inch steel wheels and 215/55 R18 on 18-inch alloy wheels. Because the 18-inch tyres are still 55 profile the ride should not be too bad. Generally, SUVs don’t drive well on the road with tyres of profiles deeper than 60, but lower than 55 tends to mean an unacceptably hard ride.
