How can I improve the fuel consumption on my Hyundai i10?

I puchased a new Hyundai i10 Automatic in April this year. I do two or three daily journeys of about three miles a day, in total about 50 miles per week. I only seem to average about 22mpg. I was told by Hyundai that because of the short journeys I make, this is correct. Would you please confirm if this is about right, especially when the MPG is advertised at up to 50mpg. What can I do to improve mileage?

Yes, that's right. You are starting your car on enriched mixture and running it solely on enriched mixture. Fill the tank then drive for 200 miles and you will get 40 - 50mpg.
