Car bought from trader with worn brake pads
I have purchased my MX5 from a trader, after travelling home (125 miles) I had the car checked out by a garage. The o/s/f brake pad was down to the metal and its caliper was faulty and stuck, so had these replaced along with the disc (this was rusty)!
It cost me, with labour, £290. I informed the seller of this and requested some compensation.
I surprisingly received 2 offers of £25 and then later on £50. I then confirmed I was after the cost of the caliper and pads only (£123) the trader confirmed all previous offers had been rescinded and I was to return the car for a full refund. This was was part of their Sellers Rights.
What should my next step be please?
I have spent £50 in petrol to get the car home, £290 in repair to get the car in a safe, road worthy condition. It seems unfair for the seller to demand a return and offer a refund of the sale, when I live so far away and already completed the repair work already.
The only mention on the Invoice was to have it serviced, this has also been completed.

You return the car to the dealer for a full cash refund. You had no right to get it fixed then expect him to pay for it. Your only right was to refer the matter back to him.
