How does my Thai wife get a UK driving licence?

My wife is a Thai national and is awaiting her visa to join me here. She has held a licence in Thailand for thirteen years and drove to work in Bangkok regularly. Can you advise what will be necessary in order for her to get a licence to drive my car in the UK?

She can use her Thai licence in the UK for six months, after which time she has to have a UK licence. That will mean going through all processes of passing a UK test, beginning with the theory part.
