Which MPV offers good access for a driver with limited mobility?

Because of a back and hip complaint I am looking for a car with a higher seating level, e.g. a crossover or 4x4. The BMW X1 series appeals to me but I am wondering how much higher off the ground it is compared to a standard saloon/hatchback. I am also considering a Toyota RAV4. Do you have any helpful comments on the available choices?

The X1 is a few inches higher off the ground, but surely it would be better to go for an MPV that has much better headroom and allows you to virtually walk into the car. The Mazda 5 is excellent in this respect and others include the Ford C-Max, Citroen C3 or C4 Picasso, Toyota Verso, Volkswagen Golf Plus and Vauxhall Meriva. The best SUV for comfort is the Honda CR-V on 17-inch or 18-inch wheels.
