Why do some drivers dislike runflats?

I think the runflat tyres on my 525i are superb. This is my third 525 fitted with Bridgestone Potenzas (50mm profile on a 17-inch wheels). They are very grippy, even when pushed hard, forgiving over speed humps and are extremely rugged, coping brilliantly with myriad potholes of the rural Surrey road network.

Strangely, another reader with an F11 5-Series Touring on 17-inch 55 profile runflats is complaining bitterly about the ride. I wondered if there was something wrong with the self-levelling rear suspension, or if the dealer had left the transit blocks in the springs. The new F30 3-Series we drove a coupe of weeks ago was on 225/45 R18s, not the 245/45 and 255/35 R18s that 3 Series used to be fitted with. This gave the tyres a deeper profile and they ride much better.
