Which small car?

My wife is now retired and I want to replace her 10yr old Ford KA. She does approximately 5000 miles pa. I am considering a Volkswagen Up - Move Up model, as I have a Golf Plus and am very impressed with Volkswagen build quality. Budget is around £10,000. How long has the Up? been on the market and is there anything I should be aware of? Are discounts available and what should my target price be?
