Child seat in in a Mazda MX-5?

Would you recommend fitting a forward facing child seat to a Mark 2 2004 Mazda MX5? I have read numerous forums recommending turning off the front passenger airbag or not to carry children at all in the car on safety grounds - surely this can't be the case! We would love to have the option of ferrying around our four year old daughter in the car as well as using our Audi estate.

No reason not to carry a child in a forward facing child seat and the airbag is more likely to save his life than kill him. But best to push the seat back as far as it will go. The 'rule' is about rear facing child cot/seats.
