A new medium car

I am selling my 2003 Renault Clio 1.4 Expression automatic (owned since new). I am looking to purchase a new, larger car with 5 doors and more BHP to transport four adults in comfort when required. I need the back seats to go flat (or as close as possible) to accomodate adult bikes when travelling alone.

I can not purchase an SUV or off-roader as my parents are unable to 'climb up' into the seats. I have considered a diesel even though I currently only do 10000 miles a year as the torque seems to be better.

Which of the five models I have narrowed it down to should I chose?!

You don't say if the new car has to be an automatic. The simplest auto here is the Mazda 3 1.6 auto, driven here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/mazda/mazda-3-2012.../
And its predecessor with the same drivetrain driven around 1,250 miles here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/mazda/mazda-3-2004.../
