Selling two cars to replace them with one. How best to proceed?
My friend's husband has been recently died and she has been left with the following cars:
Rover 75, Connoisseur CDTI Tour Estate, 04 reg, Mileage: 75,650, Diesel, Silver, One previous owner from new.
Mini Cooper 1.6 4-CYL 16V, 54 reg, Mileage 45,400, Petrol, Silver with Black roof
Extras purchased separately, not as one pack (e.g. 15” 5 star Rocket alloys, sports seats in front, darkened glass …..)
Bought new.
She is looking to replace the cars with a new small family car such as (her suggestion) the VW Golf. (She is retired now and want a reliable car with room for child seats for her grandchildren in the back). What is the best way of dealing with the present vehicles. (Private sale is not an option as she is now alone and I do not live near enough to help her with such a sale). Is it best to trade one in and sell the other by auction such as sure sell. If so which car should be auctioned? Any thoughts on reliable small family cars other than, or in preference to, the Golf?

In preference to a Golf, a new model KIA cee'd 1.6 petrol 6 speed manual (7 year warranty) or a Hyundai i30 1.6 petrol 6 speed manual (5 year warranty).
