Stop Start technology coupled to turbo equipped engines

Does the Stop Start system on my Alfa Romeo Giullieta 1.4 TB monitor turbo oil temperature and prevent engine shut down if the Turbo is hot? I ask because recently, after a long uphill drag with the turbo providing resonable boost (according to the electronic dash indicator) and a subsequent stop at the top for traffic lights, the engine immediately shut off. This got me thinking, does this system have the potential to wreck a turbo through due to oil starvation when the turbo is at its hottest, and where would one stand in terms of warrenty if the worst should happen?

This is a current debate. Petrol turbos are water cooled, but you are right that it would be desirable for the engine to be idled for a minute following a long ascent in order for engine oil to continue to be pumped through the very hot turbo bearings while the turbo spooled down. If not, the oil in the turbo bearings and also in the oil feed to the turbo bearings can carbonise. Carbon blocked turbo oil feed pipes are a main reason for turbo failure and the reason why a replacement turbo can fail within 2,000 miles.

Your answer is to switch off the stop start for this type of motoring.
