Filter tip?

A company is advertising in Volkswagen Driver magazine a diesel particulate filter removal service. It seems to me that if the claims made are genuine, then the diesel engine manufacturers worldwide should adopt this method of overcoming the thorny issue of how to deal with diesel pollution. I would be really interested to receive your comments, especially concerning the astonishing claims made for possible bhp/torque/mpg improvements and the possible effects on reliability, insurance, etc.

Since DPFs are a legal requirement for EU5 and EU4 on many engines, testing them could become part of the MoT. This would not be retrospective legislation because it would merely be testing for something that was legally supposed to be on the car anyway.
