Unexpected airbag deployment
The clockspring in Crossfire 2005 with 25k miles failed setting off horn. Next day I took it into dealer and airbags deployed on mechanic`s face as he drove it into workshop prior to any intervention. No warning lights.
The Mercedes-Benz part clockspring had unravelled and shorted. Now I have a huge bill for repair of airbags, fascia and blown windscreen all for want of a faulty £70 part. Chrysler have form over clocksprings in other models with mass recalls. Chrysler flew up an inspector and he allegedly said insurance problem.
My insurer says it was mechanical failure and I should look to Chrysler (now Fiat UK). Chrysler have not responded to letters or phone calls.
Do I have a case?
Pse note the car was inherited from 37 year old brother in law who died suddenly from a heart attack. Bad luck all round. Car still with dealer awaiting resolution. I am reporting it to VOSA meanwhile.

You need to get onto VOSA about this because this is a serious safety issue, arising, ironically, from the fitting of a part that is supposed to improve the vehicle's safety.
