Overheating Opel
Hi, I had a problem with my Opel Zafira 2002.
I faced a lot of problems. The first problem was the car stopped when I was taking an exit from motorway. The mechanic replaced thermostat and EGR valve because the computer showed them as problems.
But that's not cured the problem. The car is now showing one more problem; if i release the accelerator pedal, the car decreases speed as quickly as if I was braking.
All these problems show up sometimes, not always.
The RPM goes up and when stationary. It's sometimes cut the engine off. The mechanic told me its the problem with brake servo. He replaced servo with second hand one. That was more helpful. After that it's not cut off the engine.
However the car isn't smooth to drive. Again I identified the over heating problem.
I found the radiator fan was not working and the temparature not showing above 90C. Again I approached the mechanic and he found the the problem with temparature sensor. He replaced that to no avail.
When car is moving especially on the motorway, the temperature comes down to 70C. Again he replaced thermostat from but from an Opel dealer. No change.

Rather complex issue, and given what has been done before, i would suggest that
A. A pressure test is carried out on the cooling system to ensure no leaks at all
B. A complete flush of the cooling system in case of any blockage.
C. Get the mechanic to check the fan relay to ensure that it is working correctly
As for the engine running would suggest that the Lambda sensor is checked, the cam/crank sensor,and lastly the MAF (mass air flow) sensor.
