If I make a claim on my caravan insurance, will it effect my car insurance?

My caravan was parked up close to the house to keep it out of the high winds. It was not connected to our car. I was moving it a few feet with the motor mover to keep the tyres in good condition when the rear touched a tree branch and damaged the rear bumper, which is plastic. I have caravan insurance. If I make a claim on my caravan insurance, will it effect my car insurance? I'm on the insurance of three cars so it could be costly.

It should not do as it is not a motorised vehicle. As such, it should have no bearing on the vehicle policies. However, it does depend on how the insurers that insure your vehicles ask you what are deemed as relevant questions. You have a duty to the insurer under the 2012 Consumer Disclosure Act to make the insurer aware of anything you would think a prudent insurer would need to know. My advice would be to ask the individual insurers prior to making the caravan claim whether they load the risk on your car policy should you make a claim on a non-motorised caravan.
