Why do my Volkswagen wheel caps keep going missing?

I frequently find that one of my Volkswagen badges is missing from the wheels of my Golf Mk 6 and I do not know when this happens. Is it likely that they are being stolen or being dislodged (e.g at a car wash) and is there any way that I can stop this happening? The car is in a locked garage overnight.

There used to be a pop group called 'The Beastie Boys' who wore necklaces made up of VW badges and promoted a spate of thefts of Volkswagen grille badges. I suspect something similar in your case.
