MG 75th Anniversary Limited Edition MGF

4 March 1999

MG Cars has announced a celebration Limited Edition of the UK’s best-selling sports car, the MGF. Restricted to a production run of 2,000 the MGF 75th anniversary LE will be built in both 1.8i and 1.8i VVC versions. The car makes its public debut at the Geneva motor show.

Available in two colours, Mulberry Red and Black, the MGF 75 LE comes with a contrasting hood colour; black with the red car and Grenadine Red with the black. Both colour options come with a Grenadine Red hood cover. The car is specified with 16" eight spoke ‘minilite’ wheels and 215x55 Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.

The interior is trimmed in Grenadine Red leather which is applied to the seats, door casings, handbrake and gear lever gaiter and steering wheel. A black leather handbrake grip is styled to match the wood/alloy gear knob. Wood applied to the centre console and air vent surrounds is complemented with a chrome ashtray. In-car entertainment is uprated by the addition of a single-disc CD player. The chrome theme is further applied on the exterior of the car to the door handles, grille and bodyside air intakes.

The 75th anniversary LE has unique bodyside badging, and to authenticate the limited edition status, an individually numbered identification plate is mounted on the rear panel between the seats. A Certificate of Authenticity is also provided.

Vehicles from the UK allocation of 500 will go on sale in April with customer delivery in June. Prices for the MGF 75 LE are still to be confirmed but are expected to be in the region of £20,000 for the 1.8i to £22,000 for the VVC version.
