Jaguar Workers Accept Contract

9 November 1990

NEW YORK TIMES

Employees of Jaguar and the Rover Group have voted to accept new contracts that include double-digit pay increases in the first year, the companies said. Rover Group's 31,000 hourly workers approved their new contract by nearly 5 to 1. It gives them an 11 percent raise this year and a 7.5 percent raise in 1991.

At Jaguar, 56 percent of the 9,000-member work force voted in favor of a two-year deal that raises pay 12.5 percent this year and either 7 percent or the rate of inflation next year, whichever is greater. Jaguar, which was acquired by the Ford Motor Company last year, said average wages now were about $460 for a 39-hour work week.
