12 September 1980
BL plans a further cut in Rover car production, with the loss of hundreds more jobs in the West Midlands. Yesterday, BL confirmed that one of the three car assembly lines at Solihull will be closed before the end of the year and that 450 voluntary redundancies will be needed. About 100 will be sought over the next few weeks.
