Triumph stoppage
3 August 1973
By R. W. Shakespeare Northern Industrial Correspondent
All car production at British Leyland's Triumph car plant at Coventry was stopped yesterday, a day of mounting pproblems for the Midlands motor industry. The shut-down involving 2000 workers being laid off was caused by a strike of 100 internal drivers.
The drivers have been in dispute with the management for some time over working conditions. Although their grievances have been taken through British Leyland's new disputes procedure, they are, apparently, unsatisfied with the outcome.
