Cowley output halted again
27 May 1973
Car production at the British Leyland Austin-Morris plant at Cowley, Oxford, was halted again yesterday because of the continuing dispute over work-study operations being carried out by the management. However, there are now increasing, signs that the shop stewards' campaign to impose a complete ban on the use of industrial engineers to carry out work measurement and other studies is losing support on the shop floor.
For a three hour period yesterday morning Production was resumed on the Maxi assembly lines but this was brought to a halt when a small group of men refused to continue working while the industrial engineers were present.
