BLMC recall as strike at Longbridge is called off
16 July 1971
By Clifford Webb
Midland Industrial Correspondent
British Leyland last night began recalling 2.800 men laid off at its Austin-Morris plant at Longbridge, Birmingham. The move followed yesterday's decision by 300 tool-room workers to end a pay strike. The sudden end to the strike averted a shutdown of final assembly lines which have already been seriously interrupted by strikes during the past fortnight.
