Lowry joins Leyland

British Leyland, Britain's biggest motor group, said yesterday that one of the country's top industrial relations experts, Pat Lowry, director of the Engineering Employers' Federation, was joining the group to head the effort to tackle its huge strike problem.
Leyland and the federation said in a joint announcement that Mr. Lowrv, 49, would become Leyland's director of industrial relations "early in 1970 ". At the same time Leyland said Barry Mackie, 56, director of personnel and industrial relations in the Austin-Morris division, until now the man handling the group's industrial relations- would join the board. Both men, said Levland, would have "clear cut briefs" relating to the group's industrial relations.
Their salaries were not announced.
