Strikes warning by Leyland boss

British Leyland boss Lord Stokes attacked industrial unrest within his company yesterday. He said that most disputes were unofficial and need never have happened. Despite "tremendous efforts" by the company to reach an understanding with the unions, it has been subjected to an unprecedented state of trouble, he said.
Speaking at the unveiling of British Leyland models to be announced next month, Lord Stokes said that, with a few exceptions, they could not supply enough cars to meet demands. Distributors and dealers in America were being lost because Leyland could not provide their much sought-after sports cars, he said.
