Super Jag Is Hit By Strike

21 January 1969

DAILY MIRROR

A wildcat strike stopped work yesterday on the new XJ6 " super " Jaguar car.

Workers assembling the XJ6 at Coventry walked out—defying advice from shop stewards and union officials.

They were protesting about piecework rates agreed by management and unions.

The 110 men were later joined by 600 workmates who walked out in sympathy, bringing the entire factory to a standstill.

This latest stoppage is a severe blow to Jaguars who have been trying to step up production to meet large export orders.
