BMC Appointments

Retiring tomorrow after a long and distinguished career in the motor industry is Mr R. A. Bishop, director of publicity for the British Motor Corporation.

Mr Bishop, who was born at Leyton, Essex, in 1904, spent some of his earlier training in the foreign news department of The Times. He joined Morris Motors as press officer in 1934, and became publicity director to B.M.C. in 1958. He is succeeded by Mr Brian Turner, deputy director of publicity for B.M.C. since 1960, and a former staff correspondent of the Midland Daily Telegraph, The Birmingham Post, The Times, and the B.B.C. Mr Turner is succeeded by Mr J. J. Field, publicity manager of the Nuffield Organization since 1957.

Two new Posts have been created: Mr S. A. C. Haynes, publicity manager of the Austin Motor Co. becomes B.M.C. publicity manager (Home) and Mr. R. C. Harrison, deputy Publicity manager, Nuffield Organization, becomes B.M.C. Publicity manager (Export).
