New car production stopped by strike

NEW CAR PRODUCTION STOPPED BY STRIKE

The main assembly line of the new Morris 1100 at the British Motor Corporation works at Cowley, Oxford, was stopped today by an unofficial strike of 145 men.
Fifty other men had to be sent home. The dispute was over rates paid for waiting time when a shortage of components prevents the men earning their full rate. A B.M.C. official said later that there had been a shortage of body supplies but these were now flowing normally.
