Jaguar gives up space in 50 ships to competitors
10 February 1962
Jaguar Cars, Ltd., of Coventry, stated yesterday that because of the production stoppage and strike by their 4,500 employees they had been forced to give up to their competitors car export space reserved in nearly 50 ships.
They said they were unable to make any fresh shipping reservations because they had no idea when production could be resumed. There were many inquiries from American and European distributors about orders placed, among them a £22,500,000 order from America.
The strike began on Wednesday after a complaint that the company refused to dismiss two men who worked during the national engineering stoppage on Monday.
