E-type production up

29 May 1961

Demand for the new E-type Jaguar has been so great that the company has had to step up production by 50 per cent; extra night shifts are being worked at Coventry in an attempt to meet this demand.

A target of 150 E-type Jaguars a week has been set and it is hoped to reach this target towards the end of the autumn. Jaguar's current car production, excluding the E-type, is running at about 525 a week. About 65 per cent of total production goes for export of which about 331 per cent goes to the North American markets.

BMC - Today the Austin Healey Sprite MK2 is announced along with a revised "big" Healey 3000.
