Rover strikes

21 March 1961

THE GUARDIAN

Nearly 3,00 workers were idle yesterday at Rover Motor Company factories in the Birmingham area. The main assembly lines were again idle at the parent factory at Solihull, and over 2,000 workers were idle at four branch factories because of the interruption in production caused by the three-week-old strike at another branch factory. A company spokesman said yesterday that more than 3,000 workers had been told to report for duty today, when it was hoped that work would be found for them.
