Rover strike

4 October 1960

350 ROVER MEN ON UNOFFICIAL STRIKE

About 350 motor workers struck in Birmingham yesterday after the management was understood to have refused to re-time a job on a grinding machine. The machine is operated by a senior shop steward at the Rover Company's factory in Greet, Birmingham, which makes gearbox components. A management official said: "The strike is unofficial and there will be no discussions until the men return to work."

On this day
Jaguar Cars Chairman Sir William Lyons meets Jack Sangster of BSA to discuss a supplementary payment to complete the sale of Daimler to Jaguar.
