5,000 SENT HOME
Because of flooding about 5,000 men were sent home from the Pressed Steel car body works at Cowley, Oxford, and 1,000 more were laid off at Morris Motors' branch at Cowley. All work at the M.G. works at Abingdon, Oxfordshire, stopped for the day.
