Top 10: Cars for sale at Silverstone auction

If you’re in the market for a classic, then pop along to Silverstone Auctions’ Autumn Sale on Saturday, 20 September. More than 60 classics are going under the hammer, including a low-mileage 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalve, which is expected to fetch £80,000-£90,000. Also for sale is a 1960 Steyr Puch 500 and the first production-spec Jaguar XJS-based Lynx Eventer V12. We’ve already reported on both of those cars, so here is our pick of the best of the rest on offer at Saturday's sale at the Northamptonshire circuit.

1956 Morris Minor £2000-£3000

This split-screen 1952 Morris Minor saloon has been owned by the same family for most of its life. It’s been sympathetically restored and regularly maintained. It comes with a great history file and we’re told the car drives beautifully – even the semaphores work (although indicators have been added). Under the bonnet, a 948cc engine was fitted…in 1974! In the past few weeks, the car’s received new spark plugs, hoses and brake pads (although there’s no word on whether or not it has an MoT). It does come with an emergency windscreen, though.
