1997 Ford Escort Cabriolet Ghia. 1 former keeper. Full service history. Excellent rust free condition. (Exception of very very small bit on boot lid as shown with my finger for scale). MOT until May 22 with no advisories. Garaged. Extremely well cared for and maintained. Everything works. Unmarked alloys. A 5 seater convertible! About the car...about a decade ago my wife saw one of these on the internet and said how much she had always wanted one when we were younger but could never have afforded the insurance. She’s nice is my wife, and doesn’t really ask for anything. The one she was looking at wouldn’t do. So we searched the internet. And spotted this one. It was at the other end of the country in Penzance. One owner. 12000 we went and got it. “Rust free”. Apart from the hole I could get my finger in at the bottom of the driver’s door this was true! We had the timing belt changed locally (unfortunately the vendor was unwell and couldn’t verify if it had been changed recently or not) and then off home we went. We had the rust hole fixed, the car fully serviced and fully under sealed. Since then it has been maintained meticulously- any imperfection taken care of immediately. The last 3 years it has been seldom used as my wife got an mx-5 round about then. This is a reluctant sale - our kids are driving now, we could use the space. It’s a beautiful car, something a bit different, increasingly rare - I think it would be a struggle to find a better one. I took loads of photos the other day so if you are genuinely interested please get in touch and I’ll forward them.

Looked okay in a bland kind of way, three-door more attractive than five-door, formed the basis of RS Cosworth, massively improved with subsequent facelifts in 1992 and '95
