For sale a 1969 historic Morris Cooper rally car This is a genuine Mini Cooper with full Cooper S spec. Being historic the car is exempt Tax & MOT, although I still MOT it, which runs out 10 April 2020. The car was built by Bill Richards to historic rally regulations and is fully compliant and ready to compete. It has recently been tuned on Neil Slark’s rolling road with 84bhp. The previous owner was a retired Lucas auto electrician and made a custom loom for the car, including the fuses, relays and instruments on the works dash. I have 4 large folders of build photos and receipts from the previous 2 owners, these total nearly £20,000. The car also comes with spare brand new fully adjustable suspension and also some assorted spares. In excellent condition throughout and drives and handles superbly. I am only selling as I am looking to buy a Lotus Elan, £24,995 ONO. Engine – Built by Bill Richards 1293 cc A+ engine, ported and flowed stage 3 12g940 head 35.6mm inlets 30.00mm exhaust valves, Piper BP 285 camshaft, twin 1.1/2” SU carbs HS4, lightweight steel flywheel, remote oil cooler, Manflow LCB exhaust manifold, brand new Maniflow centre exit exhaust, engine steady, Aldon distributor and sports coil (re-curved by Aldon to match the engine), alternator conversion and an oil catch tank with breathers. Fuel – Genuine twin Cooper fuel tanks, twin horizontally mounted SU electric fuel-pumps and Aero fuel lines in car. Gearbox – Straight cut close ratio gearbox & drop gears, centre oil pick up with rear block filter, Quaife LSD with a 3.4 diff, Swiftune competition Hardy Spicer UJ’s, output shafts and drive shafts. Brakes – Cooper S brakes 7.5” S discs, carbon metallic pads C-G8993, Minifin alloy rear drums and brake servo mounted in car under the dash. Suspension – Front cones red dot, HI-LO height adjustable suspension, rear adjustable camber brackets, Bilstein rally shock absorbers, poly bushed, 6 x Minator 5x10” wheels all fitted with Yokohama A032R soft compound tyres. Rally Preparation – Brake, fuel and battery lines run inside the car, full sump guard skidded exhaust and under car battery box guard, plumbed in fire extinguisher system plus a drivers handheld one, Brantz navigators trip and timing rally meters, dash clock, map light on passengers door, Cibie headlamps, Lucas 700 fog / drive lights, rear reverse gearbox and dash switched, boot mounted Lucas reverse light and rear fog red light, Cobra classic bucket seats with headrests, Willans full 3 point harness belts, Safety Devices full 6 point roll cage bolt in plates welded in, custom made works dashboard with fuse and fully relayed access new wiring loom, Two speed wipers with wash/wipe foot switch, FIA battery cut-out switch, Moto-lita steering wheel, Quick lift car jack (works VW type), Front and rear tow hooks and a spares kit. 1000's of hours of work have gone into this car to make it what it is today. Only the best quality parts and most reputable people have been used in this build. The car drives superbly and handles equally as well, it has been very well setup. The Yokohama A032R tyres are very sticky and the carbon brakes stop it very quickly. This is a very reluctant sale, I have never raced or rallied the car, nor am I going to get time too, hence the sale.
