How many cars fail an MoT for having a dash cam obscuring the driver's vision?

Can you obtain figures for number of cars which have failed the MoT through having a dash cam, mobile phone carrier or furry dice obscuring the driver's vision? This problem is increasing at a tremendous rate and the police don't seem to be doing anything about it. I wrote to the Dept of Transport to ask them to have internet adverts showing dash cams obscuring the view taken down, but the reply was that it's not up to the DoT and just quoted the section of the Highway Code where this is illegal.

The official line from the official MoT test manual on the matter is: "Where items are present in the driver’s view (such as a sat nav, air freshener etc) that would justify a Reason for Rejection, the tester may, at their discretion, remove the items prior to the inspection. This fact should be noted on an Advisory Notice."

So MoT failures because of such items are extremely unlikely. If you look at our recently updated MoT files you'll find the most common failure items within the 'driver's view of the road' category are windscreen wipers and washers.

I'm minded to fit a dash cam and the consensus is that the optimum position is behind the rearview mirror. However, if I were to do this the cam would be positioned on the shaded/mottled area of the windscreen....
