Ford S-MAX part unavailable?

The instrument cluster on my Ford S-Max (2008) failed 8 weeks ago. Since that time I have been without the use of a car. The car has done 60k miles. I have taken it to a local Ford garage and told that it will cost over £1100 to fix.

However there is no replacement part available in the Ford parts system. Ford customer service are currently trying to get a part but to no avail. What are my rights with regard to Ford. Do they have an obligation to manufacture parts for this car?

There is a general agreement that manufacturers should make parts available for a car for 10 years, but there is no time limit set on how quickly they have to do this. This particular problem will be due to the impending closure of the Ford Genk plant which has led to interrupted supplies of parts to the factory.
