I want to insure my 22-year-old daughter on the family's Vauxhall Tigra but it's very expensive - should we replace it?

I have a September 2000 Vauxhall Tigra with 67,000 miles on the clock. Since breaking my wrist earlier in the year I have re-discovered the joys of public transport and walking, and really don’t need a car in my part of SW London. Meanwhile my 22-year-old daughter, who passed her test last December, is desperate for a car. She has since taken the Pass Plus course. My existing insurer refused to even contemplate adding her to my policy as they don’t insure anyone under 25. Would I be best selling the Tigra and buying a more insurance-friendly car for her and me to drive? I don’t really want to spend more than £5,000 in total.
