Classic or scrap it? Ford Mondeo

Is the Mondeo on the verge of classic status? It's more than 20 years since it was launched and those MKIs are becoming increasingly rare, especially as an estate. If you had one, would you consider it a classic or would you scrap it?

The Mk1 is surely one of those under-the-radar classics that has disappeared from the roads without anyone really noticing. Much like the Sierra.

Having owned a 1997 1.8lx for almost 10 years, I have to say it was the best car I have ever owned.

Economical, Reliable and fantastic to drive!

Only downfall with them is the lower arm bushes which need changing every 2 years but little else gives bother. Clutches can be pricey to change as its a BIG job.

Love Mondeos. Buy a good ST24 now and squirrel it away. It'll be worth something in years to come.

Mk1 Mondeo and Mk1 Focus will be future classics, without doubt. The were so different from anything Ford had done before (inside and out) and they'll be super rare in years to come, because no one has looked after them.
