Top 10: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2017 classic highlights

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is arguably Britain’s greatest outdoor automotive event, with thousands of incredible cars on display and in action. The 2017 event was one of the best yet, with classic Formula One, touring cars and the rally greats in action on the world famous Goodwood Hill, with some of motorsport's biggest names behind the wheel.

1986 Vauxhall Carlton TS6000

Another tin-top legend in action over the weekend was the Vauxhall Carlton TS6000. Rumour has it that Cleland visited his local Vauxhall dealer to get access to the Carlton before its official launch and both he and teammate Vince Woodman took four wins in 1987 with the Carlton, with Cleland going on to take the championship title in 1988.

Known as the 'Thundersaloon', the Vauxhall provide Cleland with much success in the 1980s. Despite its resemblance to the road going model, the TS6000 was far from mundane, with a race tuned chassis and potent 570bhp 6.0-litre V8.
