Don’t worry because there are still plenty of options available to you. Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet

The archetypal four-seater convertible of the ’80s, the ragtop Golf arrived at the start of the decade and enjoyed a 13-year career. Well-built by Karmann and available in a choice of different specs (including a 1.8-litre GTi), the MkI-based Golf Cabriolet was brilliantly snug in the winter thanks to its insulated hood and heated glass rear window.

The problem now, however, is that values are rising. You might be able to pick up a MkI Golf Cabrio for £1500-2000 in good but not perfect condition; or you could just spend a grand or so on its successor of 1993-on.

No Z3?

I regained 20 years of youth when I bought my copper red 2.0i, love it. It sticks to the road like glue. There's no better feeling than having the wind in your hair and a responsive pedal under the right foot.
No problem with spares or repairs, because of the number of these cars out there the prices stay low.
